Run by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2 BEG & C, Roorkee is a CBSE school located at Roorkee cantonment in the state of Uttarakhand. The school has classes from primary to class XII, offering both English and Hindi mediums of instruction. It was established in 1999 and has around 1000 students in all. A co-educational school, it has science and commerce streams to choose from at the 10+2 level.
Infrstructure Each class from I to XII have two sections each. In 10+2, there is one science section and one commerce section. Among the facilities, the school has a library, three science labs, one math lab, two computer labs, two resource rooms - one for the primary and secondary section each, an activity room and two staff common rooms.
Sixteen of the classrooms are e-classroom enabled. The two computer labs have LAN as well as broadband internet connectivity. The speed of the broadband connection is 100 Mbps and there are around 85 computers that are available for the students to work and learn. The student-computer ratio is quite good at 10:1. The staff room and the office rooms also have computers. A good number of teachers are trained on computers through the EDUTECH programme.
The school conducts a variety of co-curricular activities for its students. Some of these activities include essay writing, poster making, drawing, painting, creative writing, quiz, Diya making, rakhi making, etc. Important days like Republic Day, Independence Day, Teacher's Day, Children's day, Yoga Day, Unity Day and Hindi Pakhwada Diwas are also celebrated. For sports, the school has a large playground and facilities for various games and events.
