Overview

Initially started as a primary school in 1932, Canossa High School, located at Mahim, Mumbai developed into a High School in 1946. The girls school follows the S.S.C. curriculum as per the Department of Education, Government of Maharashtra. The School is under the jurisdiction of the Archbishop of Mumbai. While classes in Religion are mandatory for Catholic students, non-Catholic students are taught Moral Science.

Infrastructure and facilities

The blue and white hued school buildings have spacious classrooms with a large quadrangle out front. There are laboratories for the various science subjects, as also computer labs. Interesting documentaries and PPT presentations are made in the audio-visual room. Students are encouraged to read the library books and use periodicals and other reading material as reference for increasing their knowledge of the subjects they learn. School programs, cultural events and music programs are organized in the large auditorium.

The school also has its own chapel where anyone can spend a few quiet moments in prayer.

First aid medical facilities are available 24x7.

Unique features

The school provides appreciation cards both for academics as well as character to students based on their general behaviour.

Special counselling sessions are held for students who require them. These include play therapy, behaviour therapy, etc. If necessary, home visits are also done to communicate directly with the child's parents or guardians.

On the school campus itself, the the Hindi Shikshan Kendra has been conducting Government-recognized "Hindi Rashtrabhasha" classes since 1951 to help hone Hindi language skills of the students.

School timings

The regular school hours are from 7.15 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. You can contact the school Principal between 7.45 a.m.to 8.45 a.m. on regular school days or by prior appointment. Note that there will be no school business conducted outside of the regular office hours and on Thursdays, Sundays and holidays.
