Set up in 1954, the Government Secondary School, Yanman was initially a primary school only. It started offering secondary school education in 1991, when it got affiliated to the CBSE Board, Guwahati. Currently it has got pre-primary sections and students can enrol from Class 1 to Class 10. The school's academic reputation is good, with cent percent results recently in the class 9 & 10 exams. The school managing committed includes students, parents and eminent people of the local area.
Infrastructure and facilities The approximately 2 and half acre campus of the Government Secondary School, Yanman does not have major facilities such as a library or games rooms or bus transport, other than sufficient good hostel accommodation for boys and girls.
Fees and admission process Free admission is provided to students from Class 1 to Class 8 at the Government Secondary School, Yanman and the fees are very economical for the higher classes. Parents can approach the school office for admissions between 1st and 20th June each year, with the annual academic session beginning on 1st June and ending on 15th April.
The current Headmaster is Shri Suresh Kumar Asthana. Besides him, there are about 7-8 teachers and 3-4 staff members in this school.
