Government Higher Secondary School, Lathao was established in Lathao village in the year 1958 which was then only a primary school. It was started by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. At first it was a just a cottage with just 32 students. Then it slowly upgraded to the Middle school in 1973 and then to the Secondary school level in the year 1986. In the year 1989, it got affliated to the CBSE. As the popularity had grown, it was further upgraded to Higher secondary school providing education facilities to over 600 students in the area around the Lathao village.
