About City High School, Berhampur

It is one of the oldest Government Schools in Odisha which was set up in 1930 started by Rao Saheb WVB Ramalingam pantulu as a Telugu Medium High School. He was chairman of Berhampur Municipality in British era and was associated with the development of City High School. Telugu and Oriya are the two media of instruction as the city is influenced by Telugu speaking people and once part of the erstwhile Madras state. Presently it caters for 900 students and the school library contains about 10000 books and novels. It has about 48 class rooms with two storeyed building in a 'L' shape with a very big play ground.
