The Bankura Zilla School is a State-run boys school. It is one of the more than 40 schools under the direct administration of the West Bengal government.
Located over 200kms from Kolkata, the school is 176 years old. It has got an excellent academic record, with its students always featuring in the merit list of the State Boards' Class X exam. As per the latest stats, more than 40 students scored over 90% in this year's exam. Students of this little known school have also been getting admission to reputed medical and engineering colleges and even to the IITs. Due to this, parents from other Districts too seek admission for their children to the school.
The school's disciplinary policies ensure the school has set the bar high for educational standards for State-run schools. The Principal personally gets in touch with a student's parent or guardian to insist on having the child attend regularly. What's more, the faculty are appointed through the State Public Service Commission, thus ensuring highly qualified teachers are imparting education.
