About NPS International School

NPS International School, Singapore, which is part of the India-based NPS group of schools, is a day school with classes from Kindergarten (including Nursery) up to Std. 12. It started its academic programs in 2008. The school is affiliated to the CBSE and IGCSE Boards and the IB Board for Std.12. Each class is restricted to approximately 25 students.

Infrastructure and facilities

The main school functions are held in the air-conditioned auditorium, as also musical and drama performances by the students. Other facilities include a computer lab, 4 science labs, 3 libraries for students of the various academic levels, an audio-visual room for workshops & discussions, a book store and medical clinic, dining area with canteen, lockers for students from Std.3 onward, etc. The sports facilities include those for cricket, football, basketball and badminton, with 2 playgrounds on the campus. Bus service is also offered for to and fro transport.

Academic programs

  1. Montessori program: For children of ages 3 to 5 years.

  2. Kindergarten programs: Children can gain admission as per their age into any of the 3 programs, namely Nursery (at age 3), Lower KG (at age 4) and Upper KG (at age 5). As per the age, reading and numbers are taught through fun, interactive sessions. An understanding of sound and visuals is also developed.

  3. Primary school program: This is from Std.1 to Std.5. The primary subjects taught are English, Science, Maths and Social studies. Students are also offered co-curricular activities in Music and Drama, Art, Physical Education and Yoga.

  4. Middle years program: This is from Std.6 to Std.8. The curriculum is aimed at preparing the student to take up subjects as per the CBSE or IGCSE Board.

  5. Senior school program: This is for students of Std.9 and Std.10. The curriculum covers 8 to 9 subjects, including separate Science subjects and an advanced level Maths program. For those pursuing CBSE, they will study Maths, Science, Social Studies, English and a language along with creative arts in Std.9 and the first 4 afore-mentioned subjects in Std.10 too.

  6. IB program: This is offered for students of Std.11 and Std.12, in addition to the CBSE program. 6 subjects are incorporated in the curriculum, along with essay, knowledge-related and creativity activities.

Co-curricular & extra-curricular activities

Various clubs encourage students to take up something which interests them, such as photography. Extra-curricular activities include sports, robotics, creative writing, etc.

Unique features

  • The school offers ESL resources to students who are not from an English-medium environment.

  • The school canteen serves only vegetarian food and no aerated beverages are sold on the premises (other than on special occasions when a public event is organized).

  • Students are provided with medical insurance which incorporates medical, hospitalization & accident insurance.

  • Students of higher school levels are appointed to act as school bus marshals for primary level students to help the teachers to maintain discipline.

  • Community services, including fund-raising activities, are encouraged.

  • A student can avail of reciprocal admission in India at NPS, NAFL (National Academy for Learning) and TISB (The International School Bangalore) schools as per seats vacant there, on completing a minimum of 2 years at NPSI.

  • From Std.2 onward, students are taken on trips within and outside Singapore to develop cultural awareness, instill team spirt and enjoy adventure activities.

School Timings

  1. Montessori, Nursery and KG: 9a.m. to 1p.m.

  2. Std.1 onward: 9a.m. to 3.30p.m.
There will be a brief morning recess & lunch break for all students. While co-curricular activities are within the school timings, extra-curricular ones will be after school hours. Vacation breaks include: Summer break from mid-June to mid-July, mid-term break in September-October, winter break of 3 weeks in December-January and a brief break in April prior to the new academic session.

Admission process

For admissions to Montessori, Nursery and Kindergarten, there are only direct sessions with the child, his/her parents and the school Principal. For admissions to Std.1 onward, there is a written test and then the interaction with the Principal. While the academic sessions are from April to September (first semester) and October to March (second semester), mid-term admission of a student will be allowed as per vacant seats. The IB program's academic session is from July to June of the following year.

For the 2016-2017 academic session, the Tuition fees per month, subject to GST(12 months' fees payable), are:
  1. Nursery: S$1100

  2. Kindergarten: S$1250

  3. Montessori: S$1300

  4. Grades 1-5: S$1625

  5. Grades 6-8: S$1725

  6. Grades 9-10 CBSE: S$1820

  7. Grades 9-10 IGCSE: S$1925

  8. Grades 11-12 CBSE: S$1885

  9. IB Year 1 and 2: S$1950 + S$200

(i) Application Fee: For Pre-KG / KG / Montessori the fee is S$3250 + GST and for all other grades it is 2 months' tuition fees + GST.
(ii) Facility Fee (Annual, per student): S$540

Other fees: Books – Included; Bus / Transport – Extra; Uniforms – Extra; Specialized coaching, use of outside facilities – May be extra / Estimated Examination fees: For IB: S$1100 / IGCSE: S$800 / 10 CBSE-i: S$170 / 12 CBSE: S$80

Note: A sibling concession of S$150 is offered per month/per sibling is applicable whenever more than one sibling is studying at the same time. There are no refundable deposits.
