Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School was established in the year 1983. It is a CBSE affiliated co-educational institution which offers education from primary level to secondary level. School timings Class I – V: 8.30 A.M. to 3.45 P.M. Class VI – XII : 7.30 A.M. to 2.25 P.M. Lunch break : 11.40 A.M. to 12.10 P.M.
Academics The school follows CBSE curriculum from class I to XII. The students of class I to X are given education in Languages, Mathematics, Science and Social Science. Yogasana, Pranayama and Transcendental Meditation are also a part of the school curriculum. The academic performance of the students is evaluated based on periodic tests, term examinations, notebook submission, assignment submission and subject enrichment activities such as a practical lab work, listening skills and speaking skills, map work and project work. To cover all the aspects of student development, Maharishi Vidya Mandir follows the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) system of the CBSE board.

Infrastructure The School covers an area of 2.10 acres land in the heart of Chennai city and is connected to important bus terminus and railway station. The school buildings are large and spacious with ventilated and furnished classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, library, gymnasium, indoor games, dance room and music room. The classrooms have digital teaching aids such as multimedia projectors, audio and visual equipment. Separate physics lab, chemistry lab, biology lab, and computer lab are available in the school to conduct practical classes. The computer lab has modern computers with internet connectivity. The school library is stocked with magazines, reference books, dailies and periodicals. A well-furnished reading room is also available in the library. The school canteen caters the need of the students and the teachers. The school has a playground with necessary facilities to play outdoor games and sports. Bus facilities are provided by the school for the pickup and drop of the students who resides at the localities within 10-15 km radius.
Activities and Events The spiritual awareness, social awareness and physical fitness programmes offered at the school are transcendental meditation, creative intelligence, pranayama, yogasanas, guru pooja and bhajans, surya namaskar, vedic heritage programme, girl guides, boy scouts, bunnies, cubs & bulbuls, NCC, Road Safety Patrol, JRC, Karuna club, DNA Club, health club, integrity club and heritage club.
Physical education training is provided to the students on games and sports such as throw ball, basketball, karate, cricket, kho-kho, tennicoit, kabaddi, volley ball, shuttle, badminton, table tennis, chess and carom. To develop creativity, fine arts, craft and work experience, the school conduct classes to teach music, dance, textile printing, sewing & knitting, tie & dye, batik, gardening, candle making, embroidery, electrical gadgets and toy making.
