About Government High School, Thyamagondlu

Located in Nelamangala Taluk, about 48kms from Bangalore, the Government High School, Thyamagondlu is a co-ed school established in 1943. It has both English and Kannada medium sections, with over 600 students on its rolls and 20 teachers. The students are mainly from the minority communities and have done exceedingly well in their careers as professionals on completing their academics at this school. The school's reputation is such that even students from local private schools have been known to apply for admission to the school.

Academics

Students do well in the annual Class X exam due to its excellent teaching faculty and methods of teaching. The unique 5 step teaching system of engaging, exploring, explaining, elaborating and evaluating keep the students interested in their lessons. There is also a Cabinet, like in political governance, comprised of student members who are assigned specific portfolios, meaning they have to work on tasks allocated to them.

A few years ago computers were introduced for the first time in the class, which has phenomenally helped in imparting education in a more interactive and fun way. Students can now access lessons uploaded on the school's computers.

Infrastructure and facilities

The 5-acre school campus also has a junior college block and its own kitchen garden. Students themselves have worked on and developed this garden.
