Shalom Matriculation Higher Secondary School was established in the year 1992 by the non-profit Shalom Educational Trust. Dr. Rajasingh, an Aerospace scientist is the correspondent of the school. The school is maintained and currently run by Dr.Rajasingh and his wife Dr.Malathi, a medical doctor. Shalom matriculation higher secondary school provides high quality and value based education to the students from the surrounding areas of Pavoorchatram. The institution is recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
The school has well qualified and experienced faculty. The main focus of the school is to provide good education to the children.
Academics English is the medium of instruction in the school. The school follows the syllabus of Tamil Nadu state Government.
Subjects (Class I to X): Tamil, English, Maths, Science, Social
In addition to the subjects prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu, the school also provides education to their students on Computer Science and Hindi. The students up to 8th standard are given education in Hindi and they are allowed to appear for the Hindi proficiency tests conducted by the Dakshin Bharath Hindi Prachar Sabha.
The Higher Secondary classes (XI & XII) have two groups:
Group I: Tamil/Hindi, English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
Group II: Tamil/Hindi, English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science

The school has basketball and volleyball teams and both the teams participate regularly in the district level tournaments.
