About Sainik School Purulia

Sainik School Purulia is one of the twenty-five Sainik Schools in the country. It is the only English medium residential public school in West Bengal. It is a Boys' School. The aim of the school is to produce mentally tough students who can join commissioned ranks of Indian Armed Forces and other challenging professions. The school is affiliated to CBSE and students can study upto X+II in various streams (Science, Arts, Commerce) with wide range of combinations available for X+II stream.

The school is a residential school with five hostels. The facilities provided in the hostel are of a very good standard. The library and laboratories of the school are required to mentioned specially for their upkeep and proper maintenance. Students of the school get opportunities for various sports and extra-curricular activities like football, cricket, hockey, swimming, basketball, mountaineering, horse-riding, debate, dancing, etc. The standard of teaching is excellent.

Admission to Sainik School Purulia is held once in a year from class VI to class IX though the Sainik School Entrance examination held all over India. This examination is held on the first Sunday of the month of January every year.
