About Calcutta International School

In the year of 1953 Calcutta International School was set up by Miss Barth at 18 Lee Road, Kolkata. However, it's presently shifted to Anandapur near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in Kolkata. Being located within 45, 10 and 2 min from Kolkata Airport / Salt Lake, Peerless Hospital and Ruby General Hospital respectively; the school is well connected by bus and car route.

It is a very reputed international school for both boys and girls coming from foreign countries as well as local communities.

Infrastructure & facilities

School buildings are well constructed. Each classroom is spacious, well ventilated and equipped with all modern facilities.

The dining facility is available on the school campus. Various food menus are available to serve students, teachers as well as parents out of which chicken cutlet, chicken lollipop, chola baturas, etc. are very popular among them.

To ensure safety and health of the students, an infirmary and a trained nurse are always available on the school campus. The health record of each student is always maintained. More than that, the school is tied-up with the reputed hospital, Fortis in case of emergency.

A large library having various types of books including study materials, storybooks of different tastes, magazines, newspapers etc., is available there to enhance the interest of the pupils to read from a very early age.

Academics

The institute has an affiliation with British Council for London Examinations with Edexcel International and for Cambridge International Examinations. EDEXCEL IGCSE and GCE exams are held for the students of Class X and A Levels. Cambridge International Primary program and CIE Secondary program are followed in primary and middle school. CIS also offers IGCSE, 'A' Levels, IBDP in degree classes. It's an IB World School too and IB Diploma Programme has been started from September 2012. The textbooks are chosen to combine both the CIE and the IB recommendations.
