Sabarmathi Vidhyalaya Public School (SVPS) is a co-educational institution affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE). The medium of instructions in the school is English. The school provides good learning facilities and also has highly qualified teachers to promote quality education. SVPS makes innovative and valuable efforts to mould each and every student by cultivating strong fundamental education and deep cultural values in the minds of the students and strives hard to deliver them as a responsible citizen to the society.
AcademicsThe school offers the Indian national curriculum as prescribed by the CBSE board. English is taught as the first language in the school while Tamil, Hindi and French are taught as the second and third languages. Special care is given to the Kindergarten kids. For the LKG and UKG classes, the school follows a theme-based pre-primary curriculum. As per the pre-primary education process, the school conducts a lot of fun-filled activities and learning sessions to fine-tune the motor skills of the kids.
For the primary and the middle grades (grade 1 to 7), the school offers an education based on the CBSE curriculum and examines the academic excellence of the students by following the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) pattern. To reduce the examination stress of the students, no terminal examination is conducted up to grade 7, but the school considers the subject assignments, worksheets and project work as a part of the evaluation process. Both the scholastic and co-scholastic performance of the students will be taken into account while evaluating the overall performance. Instead of marks, the school follows the CBSE grading system in the report card.
SVPS offers both theoretical and practical based education to the students and also focuses on the language and numeracy development, cognitive development, physical development and social and emotional development of the students. FacilitiesThe school is spread out over an area of 5 acres land and has well-designed blocks with many classrooms and activity rooms. The school campus gives a serene learning environment to the students along with sophisticated facilities. The kindergarten kids of SVPS are blessed with colourful classrooms and activity rooms. For the preschoolers, the school has a doll room, audio-visual room, gym arena, art and craft room, toys room, music and dance room, storytelling room, sandpit, splash pool and outdoor play area.
The classrooms in the school are highly ventilated and have comfortable furniture, bookshelves, display board and digital board. The school library is stocked with books on various topics. To develop the practical knowledge of the students, the school has a Math lab, IT lab and Science lab with the necessary equipment, charts and models. The IT lab of the school has many latest model computers with the internet facility. A dining hall is also available inside the school for the students to have their lunch along with their classmates. The school has a playground facility with the modern sports equipment to play both the indoor and outdoor games. For the conveyance of the students, the school provides transport facility.
Events and ActivitiesSVPS gives more importance to the activities beyond academics. Physical education is part of the school curriculum. Apart from the regular physical education training classes, the school also offers training to the students in sports such as carom, table tennis, chess, archery, badminton, yoga and karate. As a part of the co-curricular activity program, the school also conducts classes on visual and performing art forms such as Keyboard, Tabla, Violin, Mirudangam, Art, Craft, Needlework, Western dance and Classical dance.
To encourage the personal interest of students other than academics, the school hosts a wide range of club activities. SVPS has nearly 17 active clubs. Based on their area of interest, the students can join any club and develop their skills. The clubs that are actively functioning in the school are Literary Clubs (Tamil, English, French & Hindi), Eco Club, Quiz Club, Cookery Club, Jewelry Designing Club, Theater Club, Needle Work, Club Craft, Club Art, Club Reading, Math Club, Science Club, Badminton Club and Chess Club.
To develop the leadership quality of the students, the school has a student council to govern the school activities. For the post of Head boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy, Deputy head Girl, Sports secretary( Boys), Sports Secretary ( Girls ), Sports Vice Captains, Environmental Secretary ( Boys), Environmental Secretary ( Girls) , House Captains , Deputy Captains and Prefects, the school conducts interview and selects the candidates. The selected students must perform their duty as per the rules of the student council and must work for the healthy functioning of the school.
