About Subbiah Central School
Subbiah Central School(SCS) was started in the year 2012 and is run by Subbiah Chettiar Charity Trust. The school is CBSE affiliated and it offers education from Pre.KG to class X as per the CBSE curriculum. Subbiah Central School is a unit of Subbiah Group of Institutions and is also a sister concern of Subbiah Matriculation and Higher Secondary School which has been functioning at Tiruppur since 1991. The ultimate goal of the school is to provide holistic education to the children.
Academics
For the KG classes, the school focuses on the development of the thinking skills and assigns a lot of hands-on activities to the kids. For the lower primary (class 1 and 2) and upper primary(class 3 to 5) classes, the school follows CBSE curriculum along with the aid of Chrysalis books. The Chrysalis curriculum is based on application-oriented learning and it helps to improve the everyday learning experiences of the students. For the secondary grade (class 6 to 9), the school follows the NCERT based textbooks as prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Along with academic education, the curriculum of the school includes skill-oriented learning programmes, practical classes, educational visits and field trips. The school also prepares the students to face the talent search examinations like Olympiad, NTSE, IBT, VVM, IAIS, EMATS, etc.
Facilities
The classrooms in the school are digitally connected with a smart board and projector. To develop the hands-on experience of the students, the school has an innovative science lab, maths lab and computer lab with internet connectivity. The school has a spacious library stocked with reading materials on various topics. The school has a playground and modern sports equipment to play indoor games and sports. A well-structured throwball court, tennis court, kho kho court, cricket practise nets, skating space and kids play area are available inside the school campus. For the purpose of commuting, the school provides transport facility.
Activities
Activities and Sports are part of the school curriculum. The Extra-Curricular Activities(ECA) that are carried out in the school are Keyboard, Classical Dance, Western Dance, Yoga, Karate, Skating, Tennis, Football, Throwball, Cricket, Chess, Table Tennis, Abacus and Aeromodelling. To develop the individual interest and talent of the students, the school encourages the students to participate in ECA. Other activities that are involved in the school curriculum are Art, Music, Handwriting, Psychological support and Work experience activities.
The school gives high importance to sports activities. SCS is well-known for their football team and the school also has teams for Kabadi, Kho Kho, Throwball, Cricket, Skating, Yoga, Karate, Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Carrom, Tennikoit, Gymnastics and Athletics.
SCS has structured club activities in the school and it is compulsory for the students to participate in the club activities. The club activities are separated as 2 groups and each student must involve one club in each group. The list of clubs in the school includes
Group 1 – Quiz Club, Dramatics Club, Leadership & Life skills club, Heritage Club, Computer Skills & Tools Club.
Group 2 – English Literary Association, Tamil & Hindi Literary association, Maths Association, Science association & Ecological association.
To identify the hidden talent of the students in various activities, the school regularly conducts a lot of competitions and identifies the best participants. The winners of each competition will be appreciated with a lot of exciting prizes and awards on the Awards Day which was conducted by the school on every academic year.
