About Sri Rakum School for the Blind, Bangalore
Acharya Rakumji, the founder of Sri Rakum school started the school in 1998 with just three students. Presently the strength in this branch is nearing 500. Zen style of teaching is followed here. Sri Acharya Rakumji takes innate care for the upbringing of these children with Zen philosophy.
The students read and write in Braille. They also learn yoga, karate, Bharatanatyam, sports, Carnatic music, abacus along with their regular education. Singing and cooking is also given preference to keep them engaged throughout the day. Acharya Rakumji provides nutritious food, clothing and shelter from the funds raised through philanthropists.
The school environment gives a soothing effect to improvise on thoughts related to education. It is on the outskirts of city.
