About Global International Indian School Whitefield
Global International Indian School (GIIS) Whitefield located in the outskirts of Bangalore city at Heggondahalli village on Whitefield Sarjapur main road is a school with an international outlook and a majestic ambience. It is a CBSE affiliated co-educational English medium school for classes ranging from nursery to grade 12.
Facilities and infrastructure GIIS is built on a large 220,000 sq ft of land. The main building occupies just 20 per cent of the land area, with the rest of the open space utilised for facilities like play areas, playgrounds, skating rink, splash pool, lawns and gardens. The classrooms at GIIS Whitefield are well ventilated and lit with natural light. There are the usual facilities like a library, art & craft lab and laboratories for science, math and computer. There is an audio-visual room, an exclusive laboratory for the Montessori kids, an IT lab, a multipurpose hall and an infirmary to provide emergency medical care to the students.
The school offers a number of extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Among the extra-curricular activities are games and sports such as chess, table tennis, roller skating, martial arts, lawn tennis, football, basketball, cricket and athletics. There are rinks for skating and well-laid tracks for athletics. Handpicked students from each discipline who show promise are given exclusive training by skilled coaches.
Among the co-curricular activities are many skill-based programs that equip the students with various creative and technical skills. There are various clubs for hobbies and creative activities like art, vocals, music, poetry and dance. There are also activity clubs for public speaking, dramatics, cooking, science projects, math, robotics and sports like cricket, football, archery, etc. It is mandatory for every student to participate in at least one of the events from each category.
There are also many events organized at GIIS at regular intervals. These are sports day, annual day, quiz contests, yoga day, environment day, a celebration of national festivals, birthdays of important luminaries and so on. There are also excursions and picnics.
Among other things, the school provides safe and secure surroundings for its students. Along with manual security guards, the school has erected hundreds of CCTV cameras for close monitoring of every corner of the school. Moreover, the background of every staff, who is directly or indirectly involved with the students is verified very meticulously. The school maintains an open communication channel with the parents with respect to the students' progress in academics and co-curricular activities. There are regular PT meetings as well. An innovative portal, myGIIS, helps parents to keep track of everything, be it announcements, queries, functions, requests, feedback or transport. Parents are also invited to volunteer for some of the activities at the school like helping with outings and setting up lights and sounds during functions and more. There are even talks and experience-sharing sessions with parents.
Admissions at GIIS Whitefield Admissions at GIIS Whitefield are open the entire academic session which begins from April. However, for fresh registrations for the next academic year, the admission process opens in August. The applications are reviewed by the school by January. For applying, parents have to fill an online registration form available at the school website. Along with this, they have to submit a few relevant documents like the previous year's report card, date of birth certificate, transfer certificate, etc. In the next step, parents are asked to visit the school campus along with their child and have their queries answered by the admission counsellor.
Next, the child has to appear for an assessment test and on qualifying the same, the registration fee is to be paid for securing the seat for the child. Before the beginning of the term, the admission and the tuition fees are to be paid. Those taking admissions in the middle of the year will have to pay the tuition fees on a prorated basis.
