About St. Joseph's Girls High School

St. Joseph's Girls High School, Chelady has an interesting history down the years. It was initially a convent with boarding for girls and started the first academic year as an upper primary school for both boys and girls in 1911. In 1963 it was upgraded to the high school level and in 1992 the English medium section was added to the existing Malayalam one. The school started higher secondary classes in 2002 and is currently an aided co-ed institute from Class I to Class XII, under the management of C.M.C Sister. The school follows the State Board curriculum and students of Class X and XII have fared well every year in the Government of Kerala Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exams. Students actively participate in inter-school competitions and in the District youth festival, where they have won a trophy.

Campus infrastructure

The school building block has over 40 classrooms equipped with smart teaching aids and a library. The computer lab and science labs are suitably equipped. There is a playground for outdoor games and sports and a basketball court as well. A splash of colour adorns the lovely garden out front and there is a fresh look of greenery all around. Rainwater harvesting ensures good supply of water all year through.
