About Mukeshbhai R. Patel Boys & Girls Military School & Jr. College Science
Mukeshbhai R. Patel Boys & Girls Military School & Jr. College (Science), Shirpur was set up in 2003 by the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVPKM), a public charitable Trust, with the goal to train rural students to prepare for joining the Defense Services. They thus undergo basic military training that includes drills and tackling obstacle courses and participating in ceremonial parades.
Academic Life The school offers a formal education from the pre-primary level of Kindergarten to the Junior College level (Class 12) where students can opt for the Science stream only. From Class 5 onwards, students start getting preparatory training to appear for competitive exams, such as IAS, National Defence Service exam, etc. On completing the 12th exam, students are required to mandatorily appear for entrance exams to medical and engineering colleges of the Armed Forces and IIT exams.
Special guidance is provided to slow learners. Periodic training programs and workshops are conducted, as also cultural programs and fun activities.
Infrastructure and facilities Facilities for outdoor and indoor sports are aplenty on the campus of the Mukeshbhai R. Patel Boys & Girls Military School. Outdoors' facilities include those for hockey, football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, baseball, throwball, kabaddi, and kho-kho. Indoor sports are chess, carom, table tennis, badminton, and skating. Additional special sport-based events are swimming, yoga, athletics and horse riding.
On the formal academic front, there are classrooms with relevant audio-visual teaching aids, a library, labs with modern equipment and requisite computer software and hardware.
