About Indira National School Wakad
Shree Chanakya Education Society (CES) established the Indira National School in 2004, which currently has over 3000 students. The CBSE-affiliated co-educational higher secondary school has classes from the primary section up to Class 12 with students following the prescribed NCERT syllabus. The school has separate committees to deal with various management aspects of the school, such as for administrative work, transport, child safety, etc.
Academic and associated subjects From Classes 1 to 4, which is the primary school section, students of Indira National School, Wakad have four core subjects, namely, English, Hindi, Math, and Environmental Science, along with co-scholastic subjects of Computers, GK, Art, and Value Education. Oral communication skills in Marathi are also developed, as also spoken English with students appearing for the Graded Examination for Spoken English (GESE).
Students of Classes 5 to 8 (Middle School) have Math, Science and SST and for languages study English and Hindi with Marathi or Sanskrit or French as the optional second language. In the Secondary School section, that is, Class 9 and 10, the subjects are Math, Science, and SST and second language is English, and either of these - Hindi/Marathi/Sanskrit/French. Students of the higher secondary section in Class XI and XII can opt for the Science or Commerce stream, with compulsory and optional subjects.
Co-curricular activities at Indira National School, Wakad include music and dance, age-appropriate indoor games and outdoor sports, skating, swimming, yoga, etc. For sports' activities, students are members of one of four houses, with their sports kit the colour of the specific house, namely, Taj (red), Charminar (blue), Ajanta (green), and Konark (yellow).
Campus infrastructure The 5-acre secure campus of Indira National School, Wakad has classrooms in a four-storied building and labs for computers, Math, and Science, a library, and a canteen that provides meals (this is an optional facility). Sports facilities include a swimming pool and a separate shallow pool for kids of Class 1 and Class 2, a ground for football and cricket, courts for basketball and throwball, etc.
Admission procedure Children get admission to Indira National School, Wakad on a first-come-first-serve basis, with applications to be done by the parents through online mode. The registration fee of Rs.300/- should also be paid online. The payment of the school fees can be done online or with a Demand Draft. Parents paying the annual fee at the time of getting the admission confirmed may get a discount.
For the online application, parents should keep ready the scanned copies of the child's photo as well as their own, and the child's birth certificate and Aadhaar Card. Scanned copies of the caste certificate, learning/physical disability certificates, if applicable, should also be uploaded. If the child is not born in India, then scanned copies of his/her passport and Visa are also required.
