About St. John's School Hebbal
The first academic session of St. John's School, Hebbal was started in 2007 and since then this co-ed English medium institute has gained a good reputation as one of the best ICSE schools in the city of Bengaluru. There are regular parent-teacher meetings to let parents know the progress of their wards.
Academics and activities Affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) New Delhi, St. John's School, Hebbal follows the ICSE curriculum. Accordingly, there are mandatory subjects like English, History, etc. and optional ones of Math or Commercial Studies. The third language option from Grade 4 onward is either Kannada or Hindi. The students of the higher classes can choose between Computer Applications and Home Science. It is mandatory for students from Std.1 to Std.10 to learn computers and in Std.9 and Std.10 they are taught basic JAVA programs, which is part of the ICSE curriculum. Students are also required to appear for an internal exam for Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) and Community Service, the marks of which are then added towards the award of the ICSE Certificate.
Team spirit is inculcated and self-confidence is established through inter-house competitions between the four houses. Art and craft, drawing, etc are incorporated into the curriculum. The big playground has sufficient space for various outdoor sports and there are facilities for indoor games as well. Interesting activities like a show-and-tell for the primary classes and debates and quizzes for the higher classes, as well as field excursions, are scheduled from time to time.
Campus facilities The lovely campus of St. John's School, Hebbal with its own chapel is regularly monitored through CCTV. The school library encourages reading and reference with its collection of subject wise books and also has dictionaries, Atlases, newspapers and magazines. The labs for the individual science subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology have all the required apparatus, models, demo materials, etc and students are carefully supervised when using these. The computer lab with a stable broadband connection has 40 computers with comfortable seating at work desks. Other than audio-visual teaching aids in smart classrooms, there is a separate AV room for educational purposes.
School timings The school timings are generally from 8.15 a.m. to 3.15 p.m. on weekdays and 8.15 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturdays. The school remains closed every second Saturday of the month and on Sundays. The toddlers of Nursery attend school from 9 a.m. to 12 noon daily and kids of LKG and UKG have to attend classes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Saturday and Sunday are holidays).
Admission procedure Parents can obtain the application form for admission from the school office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays and between 9 a.m. and 12 noon on Saturdays (the office is closed on second Saturdays and Sundays). Parents can meet the school Principal between 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. from Monday to Friday and between 8.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. on Saturdays, but it is advisable to first call before visiting.
