About Navjyoti School
Navjyoti School is a co-ed primary and secondary school located in the rural area of Khapri, Murbad in Thane District, Maharashtra. Established in 2000 by Navjeevan Center, a certified NGO, the school is within the same premises of the residential Navjeevan Village. The Centre provides services to underprivileged women and children and Navjyoti School rose out of the humanitarian goal to educate the children of CSEWS (commercially sexually exploited women).
The English medium Navjyoti School is recognized by the State Government, offering education to the children of the residential village and of nearby rural areas. Students in the final years of their schooling appear for aptitude tests to get an understanding of their skills that can be developed for their future careers.
School Academics and Facilities Navjyoti School has classes from the nursery level to Class 10. While the curriculum is State Board, the teaching-learning experience is adapted since many of the children have joined academics at an older age. Accordingly, the remedial curriculum is provided, with the B.Ed.-qualified competent teachers also getting support training in teaching methodologies from faculty of established B.Ed. colleges. The teachers are provided accommodation within the residential village itself and there is CCTV apparatus for security purposes.
The school's building block houses the classrooms, a science lab, a computer lab for e-learning, and a library with books and audio-visual materials. There is a playground for sports and games, and students participate with zeal in inter-school competitions. Co-curricular activities include quizzes, painting, etc. Some years back, the school got a new building that was set up by US-based well-wishers, namely, the Binil Memorial Assembly Hall.
