About Lycée Français International de Mumbai School
Lycée Français International de Mumbai (LFIM) which translates into English as The French International School of Mumbai, is a co-ed school that has changed its campus locations before putting its roots at its present location at Parel in February last year. With one teacher for every seven students, individualized attention is ensured. The campus has contemporary infrastructure and facilities, including daycare facilities for KG. Co-curricular activities include Art and Craft, Music, Performing Arts, Theatre, Taekwondo, Yoga, etc. There are also classes to learn Hindi and French languages, including, for parents.
Academics at LFIM This one-of-a-kind private school with classes from the pre-kindergarten level to Class 12 offers a unique bilingual curriculum that is based on the French Education System. That is, the entire curriculum is taught part in English and part in French (with a specific number of hours for each). This curriculum is accredited by The Agency for French Education Abroad (known as AEFE). A student also has the option to choose Spanish and/or German as third language(s).
At the end of Grade 9, a student appears for the Diplôme National du Brevet (known as the DNB exam). At the end of Grade 11, a student has to appear for two Baccalaureate or BAC exams (this is totally different from the IB or International Baccalaureate exam), the French language exam and one of their three chosen specialties. The BAC is the equivalent to the Indian 10+2. The Baccalaureate certificate that is awarded to successful students is recognized by the Govt. of India and is accepted as an equivalent to the school leaving certificates issued by the CBSE Board, or other recognized secondary, intermediate, and pre-university educational institutions. Thus, on completing Class 12 at LFIM, a student can pursue further studies at educational institutions in India, France, or any other country abroad.
Campus highlights With bright and spacious well-ventilated classrooms, child-friendly furniture, and large whiteboards as well as display boards, a great learning ambience has been created at Lycée Français International de Mumbai. What's more, there is not just one library, but one on each floor with books in both English and French in keeping with the bilingual curriculum. Safe play areas have been created both indoors and outdoors, and a dedicated sleeping area for the little ones of KG classes. Sports facilities include a swimming pool on the rooftop and an artificial turf indoors for field sports.
Admission procedure Admissions to Lycée Français International de Mumbai are open throughout the year. Children from non-French-speaking families and those with Indian passports are welcome to study at LFIM. Note, though, that for those seeking admissions for Grade 3 and above, the student does require a minimum A1 (DELF) in French if the student has not earlier been part of the French curriculum. This is to ensure an easier transition to the bilingual curriculum of the school.
