About Snehalaya English Medium School

Snehalaya English Medium School (SEMS), Ahmednagar is a secondary school that was set up in 2010 initially to provide education to children of sex worker families, including HIV-affected kids who were undergoing rehabilitation at their allied center, and orphans. From that initial goal, the school soon expanded and enrolled children from nearby areas, especially low-income families, including slum children, and children with special needs who are also welcome to study here.

School highlights

The wonderful work done by Snehalaya, the organization founded by Shri Girish Kulkarni that manages Snehalaya English Medium School has borne rich fruits, with students successfully clearing the Class 10 Board exams and getting encouragement to study further.

A remarkable achievement to note is that Snehalaya English Medium School, Ahmednagar has now been shortlisted for the 2023 World's Best School Prize in the category of 'Overcoming Adversity', which is organized in the UK by T4 Education, a digital media platform for educators to collaborate and support each other in the learning process.
