Overview The Sanatan Dharam Vidya Mandir-City, better known as S.D. Vidya Mandir or simply as SDVM, is a co-ed private school in the heart of the city of Panipat and hence is referred to as SDVM-City to distinguish it from the other public schools set up by the same Trust. The English medium CBSE-affiliated secondary school is under the management of the S.D. Education Society. Other than good academic results, students have won medals at various Olympiads as well as in inter-state sports competitions.
An Academic insight In addition to highly qualified faculty, there are experts for Yoga classes and professional sports coaches. Career counselling and vocational guidance are provided as well. Educational trips to museums and exhibitions, excursions to places of historical interest, camps, etc are scheduled from time to time. Students participate in inter-house competitions, as members of one of six Houses, namely, Prestige, Harmony, Divine, Glory, Peace, and Dignity. Students of Classes III to X must enroll in any of the activity-based Clubs, such as drama, music, photography, sports, etc.
Campus infrastructure The SDVM campus has spacious academic blocks that house smart classrooms, a canteen with an air-conditioned cafeteria, and a library stocked with books relevant to academic subjects as well as fiction books, periodicals, magazines, and journals. There are also studios for music and dance, art and craft rooms, four computer labs, science labs, a medical facility, an air-conditioned auditorium, a conference hall, etc. The campus has CCTV cameras installed all around to ensure safety and security, a solar plant, and a fire-fighting plant. School buses are also equipped with CCTV cameras, and there is a lady attendant on board each one.
Admission procedure Parents seeking admission for their wards at SDVM-City, Panipat are required to fill in the application form that is provided with the school prospectus and submit it at the school office along with three passport-size colour photos, and proof of age. The registration fee as applicable should be submitted as well with the form. Note that the document to show as proof of the child's date of birth should only be the valid certificate issued by the civic body. Children do not have to appear for any entrance tests and are only required to attend an informal meeting with the school officials with their parents. Admission will be granted based on this interaction and as per the availability of seats. Children who have studied earlier in another school must submit the Transfer Certificate from their previous school at the time of admission, and this should be counter-signed by the Education Officer C.B.S.E. On getting admission, the fee as applicable (admission fee, tuition fee, caution money, etc) should be paid as per the schedule given.
