About Sainik School, Amaravathinagar
This school is an English medium, residential school for boys set up in 1962. The school aims to prepare students for entry into the National Defence Academy and the Defence Forces. Students are selected through an entrance examination for the entry into 6th and 9th standard.
The school campus is spread over more than 200 acres and includes labs, a library and cinema hall. The school has a variety of clubs as well as the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

Sainik School located at Amaravathinagar is a residential school for boys and it provides school education along with military based training up to class 12 as per the syllabus of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The main aim of the school is to provide quality training and to prepare the students academically, physically and psychologically to enter into the NDA (National Defence Academy). The school offers all the necessary training needed for NDA and cultivates good and positive values into the minds of the cadets.
Facilities Sainik School is spread in a large campus with well-furnished and spacious classrooms. The smart classrooms are fitted with multimedia devices and digital resources such as LCD projectors, audio device, video device, etc. for better understanding of the students. The school library is large with 22,000 books in almost all fields. The library is updated with latest books, magazines, conceptual books and reference books. As per the CBSE norms, the school has separate science laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Other than the science lab, the school also has 2 computer labs with 40 computers and high speed internet connection. The institution has a modern swimming pool, well equipped gym, riding club, large playground and Mess. The mess has a spacious dining hall and a modern kitchen.
Activities The school gives equal importance to activities, sports and games. Compulsory NCC training is provided to the students from class VI to XII. The Sainik Schools Society encourages the students to participate in adventure activities like trekking, parasailing and cycling. Games and sport are the part of the school curriculum and special training is given to all the students in games and sports such as football, volleyball, hockey, basketball and athletics by the Coaches from Sports Authority of India and by the personnel of Army physical training corps. Swimming and horse riding are the other important activities that are included in the curriculum.
