Surendranath Centernary School, Ranchi was established in the year 1988 mainly by Sarsi Bala Debi Trust with some little token assistance from Surendranath Trust. In the year 1997, it became a Senior Secondary School and is affiliated with CBSE. The school has two wings in it - one is the primary wing having classes from UKG to V and the second is the senior wing for classes VI to XII.
FacilitiesThere is a spacious library with a good seating arrangement in the school having about 12000 books arranged in categories. Library cards are issued to the student for the smooth issue of books.
Science labs (one each for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology), Maths lab, and computer lab (having 100 computers) are housed in the school for practical learning and knowledge acquisition of the students.
For organizing and holding various activities like Workshops, Interactive Sessions, Seminars, Career Counselling Sessions, Competitions, Functions, Cultural programs, Celebrations, etc there is a large auditorium having a seating capacity of 500. For arranging meetings and specific presentations there is one conference room also available on the campus.
There are separate Art, Dance, and Music rooms both in the primary as well as senior sections. Students can practice in their area of interest and learn the performing arts in these facilities.
To keep the environment clean and green there are lawns sprawling around the school. It gives a good scenic view as well as inculcates feelings in the students for greener activities.
There is a first aid/medical room in the school which is maintained with suitable staff to take care of the students in case of any eventuality of that sort.
There are staff rooms for the teachers and staff as well as one room exclusively for parent-teacher interactions.
Games and sports are organized regularly for developing the students in this arena and they are encouraged to participate in them and learn the team spirit and competitive skills.
Transport facility is provided to the students on select routes on payment of the transportation fee. Students have to be present at the selected bus stop points at least 10 minutes before the scheduled bus timing.
Security guards and CCTV cameras are available in the school who keep a vigil and cover the school area for the required security and surveillance.
AdmissionsThe academic session of the school is from April current year to March next year and the candidates/parents have to download the application form for admission from the school website and fill it completely and submit it in the school along with required documents like birth certificate, TC if applicable, caste certificate as applicable, etc. The registration fee of Rs 1500 is to be paid online.
For admission in UKG, the age of the child should be from 4-1/2 to 5-1/2 years as of 31st March of the year of admission. For other classes, age would be computed accordingly. For UKG the applications forms are available from November/December of the preceding year.
For class, I to IX the application for admissions would start in the month of March of the year of admission.
For class XI the registration and application process would start after the result of class X are out. The students desirous of taking admission in class XI Science stream should have at least 75% in aggregate (English, Maths & Science) and for Commerce stream should have at least 65% in aggregate (English & Social Science). There may be an aptitude test for the candidates.
