The Hindu Senior Secondary School was started in the year 1971 and is managed by the Hindu Educational Organisation. It is a co-educationalt institution affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school offers education from LKG to class XII. The main aim of the school is to provide education that imparts knowledge, ethical and moral values. The school strives hard for the overall development of the students by providing quality education.
AcademicsThe Hindu Senior Secondary School follows the CBSE curriculum and educates the students from LKG to class XII. The school adopts the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) method of CBSE from class I to X. The academic knowledge of the students is evaluated based on the performance of the students in formative and summative assessments conducted every term. The formative assessment includes class tests, unit tests, slip tests, oral tests, assignments, project, group work, lab activities, etc. The school provides special coaching to both class X and XII students and prepares them to face the board examinations. For higher secondary classes, the school has science and commerce group.
InfrastructureThe Hindu Senior Secondary School campus covers an area of 1 acre land at Triplicane in Chennai. The total built up area of the school is 3000 sq.mts. The school has separate spacious and well-furnished classrooms. To provide digital education to the students for easy understanding, the school has LCD projectors, computers and audio video devices. To conduct practical classes, the school has well-equipped physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computer labs. The computer lab of the school has more than 50 modern computers with good specifications and high speed broadband internet connection. The school library covers an area of 289.44 sq.ft and has well-furnished racks to arrange the books. The library is stocked with periodicals, reference books, magazines and dailies. The school has an assembly stage, auditorium/hall to conduct events and meetings. The school also has a wide playground covering an area of 4300 sq.mts.
ActivitiesPhysical education training is a part of the curriculum and the school provides training to the students in games and sports such as table tennis, chess, swimming, throw ball, athletic events, carom, judo, cycling, skating, etc. The school encourages the students to participate in various inter-school events, zonal, district and state level sports meet. To bring out the creativity and special talent of the students, the school regularly conducts various inter house competitions on short story writing, calligraphy, recitation, rangoli, fancy dress, clay modelling, word building, greeting card making, debate, puzzles, etc.
In addition to the co-curricular activities, the school also gives importance to Extra-curricular activities. The school motivates the students to participate in the activities conducted by NCC, Scouts, Guides, JRC and RSP. Various clubs such as Eco club, health club, yoga club, literary club, science club and maths club are also a part of the school. The clubs operating in the school conducts various activities and helps the students to gain on skills and knowledge.
