Jordan has 10 public universities and 19 private universities. The institutions in Jordan promote the culture awareness of arts in the areas of sculpture, graffiti, paintings and photography. The largest museum is Jordan is the Jordan Museum which contains the archaeological findings including Dead Sea scrolls. The new bands and artists are increasingly becoming popular in Jordan.
University of JordanThis university is located in Amman, it was founded in 1962, it is the largest and oldest institution of higher education in Jordan. There are about 37000 students enrolled I n student's study programme in varied courses in different fields. The university offers undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in 20 faculties- medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, science, agriculture, engineering and technology etc. The university hospital was established in 1973.
Jordan University of Science and TechnologyThe university is a comprehensive state supported university and is located on the outskirts of Irbid at Ar. Ramtha in Northern Jordan. King Abdullah University HospitalThe hospital is largest in Northern Jordan. It was named after the founder of Transjordan Abdullah I Bin al-Hussein. The university is affiliated to Jordan University of science and technology. It is also a teaching hospital with full time physicians and surgeons. The hospital has a bed capacity of 683. The hospital consists of patient clinic, emergency department, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, internal medicine, dermatology, cardiac center, physiology, therapy and rehabilitation. The JUST faculty of medicine the second in Jordan was established in 1984 in Yarmouk University in Northern city of Irbid. The faculty is associated with king Abdullah university hospital. Hashemite UniversityThis university is one of the Jordanian state run universities. The university was established in 1995 and is located close to the city of Zarqa. The university is the first to apply for two summer semester system. It offers different masters programs. It allows for international admission program. The university consists sof 19 colleges, faculties of –engineering, science, arts, economics, administrative sciences, allied health sciences, nursing, educational sciences, information technology, childhood, tourism, and heritage, natural resources, pharmacy etc. The university library contains 250 thousand paper materials and computerized database of scientific documents in various areas of knowledge. The library also consists of special purpose libraries.
