The India International University of Legal Education and Research is established by the Bar Council of India Trust- PEARL. in 2022 through a statute of the State Legislature. This is the first India International University in Goa.
This university offers UG, PG, PhD and certificate courses in the discipline of law. The admission details of PhD degree are narrated below. The university is offering a PhD ( Law) and a PhD ( Inter-disciplinary). The notification for these courses has been released and the last date for application is 27th July 2023. Interested candidates should apply for admission online on the official website of the University ( https://www.iiuler.com/).
Eligibility:
1. Candidates who completed their Master's degree in Law from any recognised national or international university ( In India or Abroad) with a minimum of 55% are eligible to apply.
2. Candidates who completed their PG in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks can also apply. But these candidates may pursue their research interfacing with public policy or law.
3. Working professionals in the area of law with some experience can also apply. For details regarding eligibility criteria can refer to the notification released by the university regarding admissions.
Selection Process:
The selection will be done based on the marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the university, Research Proposal and Oral Presentation before the Doctoral Committee.
All the candidates who apply for admission should submit a research project proposal along with their admission application. This proposal should contain around 1500 words including footnotes if any. This proposal should contain a title, a description of the problem selected, a literature review, the objective of the research, and a justification for selecting the project. expected timeline, a methodology that is going to be adopted and references.
The entrance test will be conducted on 30th July 2023. The examination will be conducted online.
Candidates who are qualified in NET UGC, JRF, CSIR. SLET, GATE, M Phil, A high court judge or a supreme Court judge or any other person who will get the exemption from DRC with reasons recorded in writing, will be exempted from appearing in this test.
Candidates who obtained a minimum of 55% in the entrance test will be allowed for oral presentation. The written research proposal submitted by the qualified candidate along with the application form will be evaluated by subject experts and the oral presentation will be evaluated by a panel of experts.
All the candidates selected by the above procedure will be provisionally admitted and they should attend a course work (Mandatory) of a minimum of 12 credits designed and conducted by the university. Only those candidates who obtained a minimum of 55% marks will be allowed to continue their PhD.
