The National Institute of Kathak Dance is also well known as Kathak Kendra. It is a unit of India's National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama well known as the Sangeet Natak Akademi Kathak Kendra is a well-established dance institution for the Indian classical dance form of Kathak. In addition to Kathak Dance, the institution also offers courses in Hindustani Classical Music(Vocal) and Pakhawaj and Tabla.
This institute is offering the following courses.
1. Foundation course: The course duration is 5 years and the age limit is 10 to 15 years. The minimum educational qualification is class 3. Prior exposure to Kathak is desirable.
2. Diploma course: The course duration is 3 years. The candidates who completed the Foundation course are eligible for admission. The age limit is 15 to 20 years.
3. Preparatory course for the diploma course and the duration is 1 year
4. Diploma Hons course and the duration is 3 years.
5. Post diploma course and the duration is 2 years
6. Certificate Course in Music (Tabla / Pakhawaj/Sarangi/Voca)l and the duration is one year
7. Diploma Special Course in Music (Tabla/Pakhawaj/Sarangi/Vocal) and the duration is three years
The admission Procedure at this institute is as follows.
A notification will be released by Kendra in newspapers and will be displayed on their website also. Applications will be available on their website as well as the Kendra. The filled-in applications are to be submitted on or before the last date mentioned in the notification either by courier or by email. There will be an admission test and the applicants should attend the same as per the information given by Kendra.
The results will be displayed on their notice board as well as on their website. The selected candidates have to pay fees and complete all other formalities. There will be an orientation class and then regular classes will start.
