Author: Dr. Sanchita Ranjan Post Date: 21 Nov 2023 The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli (NIT Tiruchirappalli or NIT Trichy) is a national research university in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. It was established as the Regional Engineering College Tiruchirappalli in 1964 by the Governments of India and the State Govt. of Tamil Nadu under the affiliation of the University of Madras. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology established by the Government of India. The college was granted deemed university status in 2003 with the approval of the University Grants Commission (UGC), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Government of India and renamed the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli. It is an institute of national importance. Today, NITT is an autonomous co-educational technological institute, with 10 undergraduate and 28 graduate programs.
Admission to graduate program
The National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli course admission process is primarily based on the entrance-based test. It offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral-level courses such as BTech, BArch, MTech, March, MSc, MCA, MBA, MA, MS (by Research), and PhD. The selection for admission in NIT Trichy to various courses is based on national-level entrance exams, such as JEE Main, CAT, GATE, etc. Final seat allocation is done through counseling sessions such as CCMT, CCMN, and JoSAA Counselling.
Selection procedure
For the BTech program, candidates are admitted based on their IIT JEE Main scores and subsequent JoSAA Counselling. Students with IIT JEE exam scores between 4000 and 10000 can secure admission into NIT Trichy's BTech program.
