'Catch them young' is a trending mantra in all sectors. This is especially true in the preparation and training of students for the various admission entrance exams and tests like IIT-JEE, NEET, etc. I was wonderstruck when I read that now such coaching classes start even from class sixth, though it is a norm to start from class eighth. Naturally many institutes that were already in this field began side-by-side coaching classes along with regular classes for the academic syllabus.
Though more such institutes are available in metros, even tire two and three cities also abound in them.

1. Vidyalankar classes: When we were in Mumbai, I enrolled my son in Vidyalankar classes for coaching for regular State Board high school classes from the eighth standard for his SSC exam. As his earlier schooling was in some other state, I wanted a coaching class to support and orient him for the Maharashtra State SSC exam. At that time Vidyalankar people asked me if I would like to enroll him in simultaneous IIT-JEE or Medical entrance exam. But as I did not want my son to be overloaded, I did not go for that. But from my experience of his coaching for SSC and from the interaction with parents of other students, I felt Vidyalankar was giving good coaching for these entrance exams.
