These institutions provide BA, MA, PG Diploma, and certificate in media and journalism stream. As per their ranking and reputation, some of these colleges come to the top and students can consider them for pursuing these courses. Most of these colleges are located in Chennai, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore.

Chennai:
Asian College of Journalism - It offers two courses in Journalism. First is a Postgraduate Diploma in Business & Financial Multimedia Journalism and second is a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrated Multimedia Journalism. The duration of these courses is 1 year. A Bachelor's degree in any discipline is required for admission to these courses.

Madras Christian College - It offers a BA in Journalism course in the self-financed stream and students who have completed their 10+2 are eligible to apply. Admissions are based on the merit of marks in 10+2.
Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication - It offers two programs in Journalism. First is a 2 years full-time program in Management in Mass Communication (PGDM). The candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (10+2+3) in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Admissions will be based on scores of CAT/MAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT/ATMA plus marks of 10+2 and UG level plus group discussion and personal interview. The second course is a 1 year full-time PG Diploma Course in Mass Communication and Journalism. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline and choose one of the following 5 streams under this course - Television & Radio Journalism/Production, Advertising & Marketing Communication, Corporate Communication & Event Management, Digital Media & Online Journalism, and Business & Financial Journalism. This course includes an 8-week internship also.
Indian Institute of Mass Communication - It offers PG Diploma Course in Radio and Television Journalism (duration 1 year), PG Diploma Course in Advertising and Public Relations (duration 1 year), PG Diploma Course in Journalism (duration 1 year), PG Diploma Course in Digital Media (duration 1 year), and Diploma Course in Development Journalism (duration 4 months). Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication - It offers two courses. First is an MA in Mass Communication and Graduates from any recognized university having 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) are eligible to apply. They have to apply online, pay the application fee, and appear in an online entrance exam followed by a Group Exercise, Personal Interaction, and Written Ability Test. The second course is an MBA in Communication Management. The process for application is similar to that of the first course except that after the entrance exam the 'Written Ability Test' is not there.
Note - Students can also explore Journalism courses in another good university in Pune, that is, Savitribai Phule Pune University.
Mumbai:
