Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) is an undergraduate veterinary course. The duration of the course is 5 years and the internship duration is 6 months. What an MBBS doctor for a human being is a BVSc doctor for animals. There are many universities, colleges and Institutions both in the government sector and the Private sector across the country. The following are some of the well-known colleges in India, as per my opinion.

1. Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Gujarat

2. Banaras Hindu University, UP

3. Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), Rai Bareilly

4, CVAS, Bikaner

5. Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Kerala

6. VCRI, Chennai

7. SV University College of Veterinary Sciences, AP

The eligibility criteria for admission to this course are as follows.

1. A candidate who wants to get admitted to this course should pass the 12th class or any other equivalent examination from a recognised board with a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examinations.

2. Candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in the qualifying examination.

3. The candidate should appear for the concerned entrance and get a valid score

4. The minimum age for admission is 17 years as of December 31st of the year of admission.

The Admission Process:
The admission will be based on the score obtained in the entrance test of the institute. Some colleges may offer seats directly based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. But, in my opinion, a majority of institutes are giving seats based on their performance in the qualifying examination.

Unlike MBBS, there is no common entrance test countrywide. Some institutes go by the score obtained in the NEET examination conducted by National Test Agency (NTA). Some states are conducting state-wise entrance tests. NEET, AAU VET, UP Veterinary Entrance Exam, OUAT, and RPVT are some of the top BVSc entrance examinations.

A general process of admission will be having the following steps.

1. The candidate has to go to the official website of the college or the entrance exam portal and apply online for the admission test.

2. The candidate has to go through the details like eligibility criteria, fee details, etc. given in the admission notification.
3. The candidate has to fill out the application carefully providing all the details asked for. The candidate has to fill email address, phone number, and communication address. All required documents should be uploaded. The details should be carefully filled in as any wrong information may lead to the rejection of the application.

4. Then the candidate must pay the application fee as per the details given in the notification.

5. It is always better in my opinion to download the filled-in application form for future reference.

6. Then download the admit card or hall ticket on the date mentioned on the website.

7. The candidate should attend the written test.

8. The candidate has to check the result and the rank obtained. Then the date of counselling given for the rank obtained is to be noted down and attend the counselling round as per the schedule
.
9. If a seat is allotted, the candidate has to pay the fees as prescribed. That completes the admission process.

Tips to Crack the BVSc Entrance Exam:
A focussed approach while preparing for the entrance examination is very important, I feel. The following are some suggestions from my side for the candidate appearing for the examination.

1. The candidate should go through the syllabus for the entrance examination. Examination patterns also should be known.

2. Make a schedule for the preparation and follow the schedule without any deviation.

3. Consult friends who are appearing for the examination to get clarification for doubts. Teachers and lecturers from the college in which the candidate studied can also be contacted for necessary guidance

4. There are some good coaching institutes. The candidate may opt for a good coaching institute.

5. Taking mock tests and answering old question papers will be very useful. It will help the candidate to know the type of questions and the time management while attending the test.

To get admission to BVSc & AH, candidates must appear for the national or state-level entrance examination for admission to BVSc & AH programs. According to my knowledge, the All India Pre-Veterinary Test (AIPVT) and the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) conduct the national-level entrance examination. There are also State-level entrance examinations such as Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH CET), Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET), Tamil Nadu Professional Courses Entrance Examination (TNPCEE), and many more. The Candidates who qualify in the entrance exam are called for counselling and seat allotment. The BVSc & AH course is a 5-year program and includes both theory and practical sessions.

According to one of my friends who recently graduated as a Veterinary Doctor, the courses taught for BVSc & AH typically have a duration of five years and cover topics such as animal anatomy and physiology, animal nutrition, animal breeding and genetics, veterinary microbiology, and animal husbandry. Moreover, upon completion of the program, graduates can work as veterinarians, animal husbandry experts, or in other related roles in the animal industry.

Some of the popular Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & AH) courses in India are:
1] Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry at Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University

2] Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry at Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University

3] Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University

4] Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry at Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology

5]Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry at West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences

I hope my answer helps you. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
