Government school or private school - which one should I send my ward
Author: Janmejaya Mohanty Post Date: 16 Apr 2023 The decision to send your child to a government school or a private school ultimately depends on your specific needs, preferences, and circumstances. Both types of schools have their own advantages and disadvantages. Here are some details that may help you make a more informed decision:
Government Schools:
Affordability: Government schools are generally more affordable than private schools, as they are partially or fully funded by the government. This means that you will not have to pay high tuition fees and other expenses that come with private schools.
Accessibility: Government schools are usually located in areas that are easily accessible to most students, as they are built to serve a particular community or district. This can save you time and money on transportation.
Equality: Government schools are open to all students, regardless of their socio-economic background, religion, or gender. This can help your child interact with a diverse group of students and learn to appreciate different perspectives.
Private Schools:
Quality of Education: Private schools often provide a higher quality of education than government schools, as they have more resources and can afford to hire better teachers. They may also offer a wider range of extracurricular activities, such as sports, music, and drama.
Smaller Class Sizes: Private schools generally have smaller class sizes, which can lead to more personalized attention and support for your child.
Flexibility: Private schools may have more flexibility in their curriculum and teaching methods, allowing your child to learn at their own pace and according to their own interests.
Overall choice is yours, both government schools and private schools have their own pros and cons, and the decision to choose one over the other should be based on your specific needs and priorities. You may want to consider factors such as your budget, your child's academic and social needs, and the availability of quality schools in your area before making a decision.
Author: Roshan Salim Post Date: 17 Apr 2023 In my opinion, choosing between a government school and a private school depends on a variety of factors such as your financial situation, the quality of education you want for your child, exposure to extra curricular activities, the location, and the available resources etc.
Government schools, also known as public schools, are institutions that are funded and operated by the government. They are typically more affordable than private schools, and their fees are often subsidized by the government to make education accessible to a wider range of students.
I must say, one of the advantages of government schools is that they offer a diverse environment with students from different socioeconomic backgrounds. This can expose your child to a range of perspectives and help them develop important social skills. However, government schools may not have the same level of resources or facilities as private schools, which can limit the quality of education they provide. For example, they may have larger class sizes and fewer extracurricular activities.
Private schools, on the other hand, are institutions that are funded and operated by private organizations or individuals. They often have higher fees than government schools, and their curriculum may be more advanced. Private schools can offer a range of advantages over government schools, such as smaller class sizes, specialized programs, and modern facilities. For example, some private schools may have advanced science labs or technology centers that are not available in government schools.
However, private schools can also have their drawbacks. For one, they can be expensive and may not be accessible to families who cannot afford their fees. Additionally, private schools may lack the diversity of government schools, as they may cater to a more homogeneous student population. Moreover, nowadays I can see that the quality of education is better in Government schools than in private schools especially in the state of Kerala. There are also incentives for government school going students in Kerala. They are more exposed to cultural and sports events apart from studies.
In conclusion, the decision between government schools and private schools ultimately depends on your individual circumstances and preferences. It is important to consider factors such as your financial situation, the quality of education you want for your child, and the available resources in your area when making this decision.
Author: DR.N.V. Srinivasa Rao Post Date: 22 Apr 2023 Government school or private school is not important. Parents should send their children to the best school. Not that all government schools are bad and not that all private schools are good. There are excellent government schools where teachers dedicate themselves to teaching and uplifting the students. All Kendriya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools and Navodaya Schools are excellent and all those schools are government schools only.
The following are some of the important parameters to be considered, in my opinion, for selecting a school for the child.
1. The schools should be near to our place. 2. The school should have a good record of teaching and producing rank holders. 3. The teaching faculty should be dedicated and should teach subjects to the students in such a way that they understand the concept well. 4. The schools should have a good ambience and classrooms should be good enough. 5. There should playground and importance should be given to extracurricular activities also. 6. The school should teach the importance of values and virtues to the students in addition to the curriculum. 7. The school should implement discipline in the school so that students will understand the importance of discipline. 8. Personal attention should be there for each student. The strength and weaknesses of the students should be identified and trained properly so that their weak points will become their strengths. 9. There should be parent-teacher interaction and proper feedback should come to the parents regularly. 10. Modern digital teaching facilities should be there in the school.
It is very difficult to find a school satisfying all the points mentioned above. So parents should survey the best schools in the place and take the opinion of the parents of the existing students. Based on the feed back the parents may have to take a decision.
