GUIST Admissions procedure

The following programs are offered by Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology:
Undergraduate programs of GUIST:
Admission to all the B.Tech programs is through Assam Combined Entrance Examination and JEE Main.
For Lateral entry to 3rd Semester of B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, the candidate must score a minimum of 45% in Polytechnic/Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering / Electronics and Electrical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering or B.Sc Electronics.
Postgraduate programs of GUIST:
Admission to M.Tech programs is through GATE and entrance examinations. 50% of seats are for GATE qualifiers and the rest seats are filled up through scores in the entrance examinations conducted by GU.
Admission to M.Sc courses takes place after qualifying for the entrance examination conducted by GU.
For admission to M.Tech programs in Signal Processing and Communication / Signal Processing and VLSI, the candidates must possess any of the following degrees:

PhD Programs of GUIST:
For PhD, students have to qualify for the PhD entrance examination (GU-RET) conducted by GU.
For admission to the PhD programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering, along with the GATE score/entrance exam qualifying marks, the candidates should possess an M.Tech./M.E in Electronics and Communication Engineering / Electronics Engineering / Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering / Signal Processing and Communication Engineering or Signal Processing and VLSI Design and related specializations of Electronics.

For admission to M.Tech programs in Information Technology, the candidates must possess any of the following degrees:
- B.E./B.Tech in ECE/CSE/IT or M.Sc. in IT/CS or an MCA
PhD Programs of GUIST:
- PhD in Chemical Science
- PhD in Mathematical Science
- PhD in Physical Science
- PhD in Biotechnology
- PhD in Information Technology
- PhD in Electronics and Communication Engineering
- Integrated MSc-PhD in Food Science of 5 years duration
For PhD, students have to qualify for the PhD entrance examination (GU-RET) conducted by GU.

When I first applied to GUIST, I was extremely nervous about the admissions process. I had heard that it was a long and rigorous application process and I wanted to make sure I did everything right. After submitting my application, I was delighted to find out that I was accepted into the university. I was ecstatic to be part of such a prestigious university and I am still proud to be a GUIST student today.
