How many campuses does Jadavpur University has and which one is the best

Jadavpur University is one of the premier higher educational institutions in India. Established in 1955, it has a very rich glory and legacy. The university during its initial years, has been mentored by great benefactors and great teachers. It now offers a repertoire of courses in different fields, including, engineering, arts, natural sciences, language, law, management, etc. JU as it is foundly called by the students and the professors alike is a much sought-after institute, where the best students from West Bengal and its neighbouring regions vie to study. As I am from Kolkata, I have a very good association with Jadavpur University, especially its second campus, which is situated in Saltlake, a posh locality in Kolkata. After all, the second campus is located beside our housing society and we share a common boundary wall. The main campus too has great significance for me, as a number of my friends and relatives have studied at this prestigious institution and many more acquaintances are still studying.
As has already been answered by many before me, Jadavpur University does have two campuses. The main campus is located in the bustling Jadavpur locality of South Kolkata, with its main entrance near the famous 8B Bus stand. I have visited the campus on many occasions while visiting friends studying there. Also, while visiting relatives residing in the localities in and around Jadavpur, would often pass by the college campus.
As far as the second campus is concerned, it is small compared to its parent campus at Jadavpur. There aren't too many facilities at this place except for its famous cricket pitch, where once I saw a practice match being played by the West Indian team during their visit to the city then. We have a bank account at the PNB extension branch that is located at the college campus. As a result, we often visit the college and on many occasions have a look around the campus. As recently as June last year, we visited the campus as we had some work at the bank.
Compared to its parent campus, the second campus is no match in terms of area, facilities, or any other way. The main campus is 58 acres big, whereas the Saltlake campus is 26 acres. Everything from administration to placements is done from the main campus. The Saltlake campus is more like a satellite campus with classes for only six branches of engineering being held here. These are Construction Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Printing Engineering, Information Technology, Power Engineering and Information Technology. The Saltlake campus also has the Eastern Regional Office of the UGC and the Inter-University Consortium for Atomic Energy. The campus also has hostel facilities. The main campus at Jadavpur on the other hand conducts every kind of course from engineering to management and UG to PhD. It has every facility like an amphitheatre, central library, alumni building, hostels, pharmacy, lake, staff quarters, gardens, playgrounds, computer building and a lot more.
Located 13 km apart, both campuses are well connected through rail and surface transport. The main campus is located close to Jadavpur Railway station, a suburban station that is connected through local trains originating from Sealdah station in Central Kolkata. The Saltlake campus too has a metro station close by that in the coming days will connect it with Howrah railway station. Another metro route is coming close to it, which will in the coming years connect the campus to Dumdum airport in the north and Garia in South Kolkata. Apart from that, it is located on the Eastern Metropolitan By-Pass, a very prominent route that connects eastern Kolkata with the southern areas. It is also close to sector-5 in Saltlake and Newtown, which are hubs for IT activity in Kolkata.
All in all, if the two campuses are compared, it is the main campus, which is the most happening one, as it is always busy with activities and events. The Saltlake campus on the other hand is a bit drab, with no activities other than say studies and of course cricket. Every student taking admission to Jadavpur University aims to study at its main campus only.

Both campuses are good, but we can consider the second campus to be the best due to the best location. Salt Lake campus also has an outdoor stadium.
