An MBA program would certainly raise the management skills of the aspirants in their chosen areas with the valuable inputs provided to them by the faculty of the management institute and hence making a career in the area of business- management, they should not ignore their own interest apart from present market needs for their rapid growth.

Let us examine some of the essential points to be kept in mind while continuing to an MBA specialisation and some relevant points for the right selection of the course
are given below-
1) Carer Goals - Instead of being guided by their own personal interests, the aspirants should also think within their cool brains about which area they would be more gainful in terms of their career growth. They should be guided by the marketing needs so that they can have an excellent future with a slight compromise to their own choices.

2) Selection of the premier institution for their studies- Though there are plenty of management schools in almost all the cities, they should look for management institutions like the IIM, Xavier's Institute, top class B-schools for their better employability.

3) Selection of Duration of Course- An MBA is normally a two-year program provided by most management institutions but there are also one-year executive programs being offered by some of the prestigious management institutions to the executives of the organizations if they are sponsored by their employers. The former program would be ideal to the executives who are on the payrolls of the company but are interested in enhancing their managerial skills by taking up an MBA program.

The following are the prime areas for an MBA specialisation-
1) Marketing- Students interested in Marketing should have an insight in the field of consumer behaviour, marketing research, sales management, retail management, digital marketing etc.
2) Human Resources- This course would suit the aspirants having their excellent communication skills to impress the different clients connected with the businesses. The HR Manager would take care of strengthening the Human Resources of their organizations apart from providing training to the employees for raising the productivity of the organizations.
3) Finance Management- In the current globalizing world, where there is a continual expansion of business activities, choosing a career in this area could be more rewarding to the students. They would study budgeting, tax - planning, investment analysis, corporate accounting etc.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a post-graduate program that prepares students with skills that are required to have a fruitful career in business and management. In my opinion, MBA after an undergraduate degree will add excellent weightage to the candidate's profile.

There are many specializations in this course. Finance, Marketing, Operations, Human Resource Management, Consulting, Business Analytics, Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain Management, Energy, Technology, data analytics, computer technology, etc are some of the specializations that are offered in MBA.

A student has to select a subject from the available specializations in the institute he/she got a seat. I feel an MBA from reputed institutes like IIMs is a good asset to the candidate irrespective of the specialization.

The following are the points to take into consideration for deciding on the specialisation.

1. Demand for the subject is one important factor to be considered. We are in a competitive market and technology is getting developed. So the job profiles also will change accordingly and jobs in certain specializations may vanish. So the candidate should select a subject that will have good demand by the time he/she completes the course. Some specializations like Finance and HR will be evergreen So candidates should consider the demand for the subject. In my opinion, we should select a subject which will be in demand by the time we finish our course.

2. Interest in the subject: The interest of the individual in the subject selected is very important. If there is no interest in the selected subject the candidate may not be able to perform. So consider this point also while selecting the subject.

3. Career aspirations: What is the career you want to have? How quickly you want to reach the position you wanted. Are you interested in a leadership role? Do you want to be an employee or an employer? Based on the answers you give to the above, you have to decide on the subject.

4. Strength of your institution and faculty: How good is the school for a particular specialization and how strong the teaching faculty on that particular subject is also to be taken into account for selecting a subject.

As the days are moving fast towards computerization and AI, students should select topics related to that field so that their chances of getting a subject will be high.
