Author: Athulia Gahanan Post Date: 20 Apr 2023 I don't have personal experience, but according to my research The top engineering school in India, the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), provide undergraduate, graduate, and doctorate programmes in a range of engineering specialities. Candidates typically need to pass the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, a national engineering entrance test, in order to be admitted to NITs.
It is possible to enrol in an Indian NIT without taking the JEE Main, nevertheless. Direct admission, state-level engineering entrance examinations, institute-specific entrance exams, and lateral entry admission are a few of these alternatives. Students who performed very well on their Class 12 board examinations are eligible for direct admission. To find out more about the admission process and the qualifying requirements for direct admission, candidates may visit the official websites of the relevant NITs. NITs accept the results of the engineering admission examinations that some states administer. For instance, the NIT Durgapur and NIT Agartala both take the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE).
The NIT Rourkela also accepts results from the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE). Some NITs also have institution-specific entrance tests for enrollment in particular programmes. For admission to its MBA programme, NIT Warangal, for instance, holds a separate entrance exam. Students who have successfully completed an engineering diploma and wish to pursue a degree in the same discipline are eligible for lateral entry admission. Such students are eligible to apply for a lateral entry admission to the engineering program's second year. Although JEE Main is the most common way to get into NITs in India, there are other possibilities for applicants who can't take the test or don't perform well on it. Candidates are urged to visit the official websites of the relevant NITs in order to learn more about the admissions process and eligibility requirements for these alternatives.
