Communication skills are the most important skills that need to be worked upon because it acts as a bridge between your knowledge and the outside world. The things you know if cant is communicated properly in the proper way people will not be able to understand its real sense. Here are some points that you can work on to improve your communication:

  • Most people have a misconception that communication is only limited to the verbal part, but the point is real communication begins when you are present for a topic, with your appearance. It is often said that, don't judge a book by its cover, however, you can't ignore the appearance part. A decent appearance communicates a lot and you should work on it. Appearance also includes your gestures, try to be humble and avoid funny or uncomfortable gestures. Maintain a smile on your face to show positivity, however, facial expressions should vary with the stage of your communication depending upon the content.

  • Language matters a lot. If you have the flexibility for opting the language then opt for the language you are comfortable with. If you have no choice then only practising again and again can help you a lot. Work on the quality of content you are going to communicate. Also, voice modulation is one of the important parts of this whole process. People maintain the same tone during the whole process which seems quite awkward. Your voice modulation can turn a boring story into the interesting one.

  • It is a common problem that what we are going to communicate we forget it. This happens due to several factors such as nervousness, low confidence and fear of forgetting the content. Continuous practice of the content boosts your confidence and helps to retain it. Also, go slowly because due to fear of forgetting the content we try to vomit it in one flow which creates the main problem. If you are forgetting something try to indulge the audience in some other thing to get back your thoughts, like asking some questions or drinking water for a moment.

  • Eye contact should be maintained properly. Try to cover the whole audience. If the audience number is very large you can divide the whole into different slabs and then maintain eye contact.
