Author: Sheo Shankar Jha Post Date: 10 Jul 2024 There is no restriction for an Indian student that he cannot pursue higher studies in his BAMS course abroad. The only negative aspect might be the fee structure and the exorbitant cost of other expenses such as food and accommodation in a foreign country where he would like to continue his studies. Apart from our country, there is a scope for an aspirant to go abroad such as the USA, Australia, Germany and Canada to pursue the higher studies related to the BAMS Course. They offer advanced programs in Ayurveda and Ayush Streams.
The aspirants need to clear the medical entrance exam of the foreign country where he is interested in their higher studies. A postgraduate degree in Ayurveda can open a plethora of opportunities if awarded by Germany, USA or Canada.
There are other important considerations which need to be evaluated - 1) There are some foreign countries interested in evaluating the credentials of the degree of BAMS earned in India and will get the same evaluated by a credentialing agency to determine its equivalence. 2) The aspirant must be comfortable in the local language of a foreign country where he is to continue his higher studies. 3) The aspirant is required to complete the visa formalities of a foreign country where he is to join for his higher studies. 4) The aspirant has to register with a medical regulatory authority of the foreign country where he would like to move for his higher studies.

Ayurvedic Medicine is practised mainly in India and partly in Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh in a limited way, and also in Bali in a different form. Note, though, that due to the reasons already mentioned above, a BAMS degree holder gets extremely limited opportunities to pursue higher studies abroad in this particular field.
