I am a PhD in chemistry. During my career, I interviewed and recruited many chemists for the industries in which I worked. Chemistry graduates are required in large numbers for the industry. There are maximum avenues to chemistry graduates than any other subject. This is my experience and opinion.

Many students these days opt for Engineering courses only. Only those people who are not able to secure a seat in B.Tech will only look at B.Sc. Once a person decided to join B.Sc, the best option for the person will be Chemistry only.

There are plenty of career options for a B.Sc chemistry person. If the candidate is interested in higher studies M.Sc ( chemistry ) will be a good option. If not interested in higher studies, the student can opt for B.Ed and go as a teacher to teach science subjects in high school. If not interested in teaching, the candidate will have many chances in manufacturing and service sector jobs.

All chemical, drugs and formulations industry wants the services of a chemistry graduate. Many companies in these fields will appoint B.Sc chemistry persons as Production chemists and quality control chemists. As he gets experience he can go to higher positions.

There are many testing laboratories in the government sector as well as the private sector. These laboratories provide service to the manufacturing sector by conducting analysis in their laboratories. These laboratories recruit many chemistry graduates as chemists to conduct analytical work in their laboratories.

There are many R & D laboratories. The laboratories that will conduct research in a field related to chemistry will appoint B.Sc chemistry people as assistants to the scientists.

While working as a chemist, the candidate can do an Asossiate of Institution of Chemists (AIC) course that is being offered by the Institution of Chemists, India. This AIC is equal to PG in chemistry for all practical purposes and the candidate can even go for a PhD. This higher qualification will be very helpful to the student in quickly going to higher positions in the career.

Like any other graduate B.Sc chemistry person can also go for bank jobs and other administrative jobs like Group I, or Group II.

There are plenty of jobs for a chemistry graduate and I feel a chemistry degree will help the candidate in getting a good job.

B.Sc Chemistry is a very good qualification to have nowadays because of the ongoing health crisis. During the COVID-19 days the pharmaceutical industry was booming and in the future Pharma will always remain relevant for the world. Any qualification in chemistry from a decent University or college will surely help you grow, provided you have got the necessary practical skills. Just need to make sure you have got the degree in regular mode from a good college where there is infrastructure available to conduct all practicals required for the chemical industry.

The Pharma industry needs chemicals that are manufactured by the chemical industry. Most of the chemistry graduates usually work in the chemical industry. Some go for higher education and research according to their preferences. Teaching is the most preferred choice for chemistry graduates because it is considered one of the toughest subjects and good teachers are always rare in this field. You can surely go for B.Sc Chemistry if you love to explore the chemical world.
