Campus politics is not allowed in VIT.

The founder and chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology, Dr. G. Viswanathan who himself is a politician, expressed his clear opinion as below.

"According to me, while in college and university, students should not get into politics or involved with any political party,". This he said in his talk in 2016 at JNU on the topic 'The current scenario and the challenges faced by higher education in the country'.'

He also added "All students must do in colleges and university is to study and not get involved in politics or with any political party. Even VIT has a student union, but it is not affiliated to any political party. " (quote source

I think the matter is clear.

Though there were some reports of some politically biased/inspired activities and contra activities in the Bhopal VIT, last year, they were treated as individual conduct (or misconduct) and dealt with accordingly.

There is a student union in VITs. The students of the institute will elect their leader. But these students will not have any affiliations with any political party. I was talking to an ex-student of VIT. He mentioned that no political meetings are allowed even during institute election times also. No printed pamphlets or no wall writings. No social media postings are also allowed. No outsider will be allowed to enter the campus.

There will be a meeting of all students and in that meeting, each contesting panel president candidate can talk and give a talk about the ideas and duties of their body if elected.

Any violation of the code of conduct will be seen as a breach and suitable action will be taken on the concerned.

VIT says that the primary goal of the students is to study and learn. If anybody is interested in politics they can pursue the same after their education as they will have plenty of time after completing the course on campus.

VIT is one of the best educational institutes in India. Every year, many students come in this college to study. This institute has been constructed only for study. Politics is not allowed on this campus. This campus is very strict in case of rules and regulations. My sister's daughter is studying at this college. She says that outsider is not allowed to enter this campus. Everywhere CCTV camera has been fixed and good security is there. The student union is there but it is not affiliated with a political party. According to Dr. G Vishwanathan, Founder, and Chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology," Students should not get into politics or involved with any political party,".The campus has a complete educational environment. If anybody is found at any kind of political meeting then he/ she will be liable for punishment.
