Is it better to do an EMBA instead of a regular MBA?
Author: Sheo Shankar Jha Post Date: 06 Oct 2023 It would be difficult to do a direct comparison to the superiority of the two courses since the aspirants would choose either of the two fit to their conditions. An EMBA course would suit a candidate having an exposure of 12 to 14 years of industrial exposure and the employers are sincerely interested in their growth in their service career because of their excellent managerial skills. A regular MBA course is an ideal course for freshers who have acquired a minimum graduation degree regardless of the streams and have secured admission in a regular MBA course based on meeting the eligibility criteria of their selection for the MBA course.
For an EMBA aspirant, seats are allotted in distinguished institutions subject to fulfilment of the different criteria given below -
1) They must have at least 12 years working experience 2) An endorsement letter of the employer. 3) A letter of recommendation of a VIP. 4) Must have a graduation degree.
Now talking in terms of the value career, both EMBA and MBA graduates would have the same value despite the fact that the course - structure of the two differs. In the former case, the course is formulated with the blends of theoretical portions & case studies of the standards adopted in the different industries where as in the later case, there is the wide coverage of theoretical portions. Classes of EMBA are conducted in a separate batch because of their different syllabus.
Author: DR.N.V. Srinivasa Rao Post Date: 07 Oct 2023 The answer to your question depends on your present status. Are you an employee as of now? How many years of experience you have put in so far? You will get the correct answer if we know the answers to these two questions.
A student who is just out of college can't get admitted to an Executive MBA. Such candidates should go for a regular MBA only. They are not eligible to join EMBA. But if the candidate is already working somewhere and he has around 5 to 8 years of experience he can study EMBA. For him, EMBA will be the best option in my opinion.
An employee need not discontinue his job to join an EMBA. The classes will be held on weekends and in the evenings. However, the employee should obtain a consent letter from his present employer. Without this consent letter, the institutes may not consider the application.
In my opinion for an employed person EMBA is the best. The value of the degree is on par with a regular MBA. Chances of fast growth in career will be there if an employee completes EMBA. Higher salary and Promotion chances will be there. He can also look for senior positions in other organisations.
