Is it compulsory to do CTET/STET after B.Ed. to get a Teaching job in India?
Author: DR.N.V. Srinivasa Rao Post Date: 18 Apr 2024 CTET/STET is required for any candidate who wants to become a teacher in any government school belonging to the State government or government School belonging to the Central government.
To get a job at the Primary Level, one must qualify for CTET for the Primary level (I to V class) and to get a job at the Upper Primary Level one must qualify for CTET for the Upper Primary Level (VI to VIII). B.Ed is mandatory for any candidate to appear for CTET/STET. These tests are required for schools under the control of the State or Central government. But there are other schools like Navodaya Schools et, which will not ask for CTET/STET but they will conduct their eligibility test and for attending those tests also B Ed is required.
No CTET/STET is required to get a teacher post in a corporate school or p[private school. They will have their selection procedure and the same will be followed by those schools.
Author: Sheo Shankar Jha Post Date: 03 Jul 2024 Yes, it is compulsory to do CTET/STET after the B.Ed degree for an aspirant interested in continuing a job in a government-aided school. The strength of the aspirants having a B.Ed degree has multiplied manifold these days and as such the government schools including the Navodaya Vidyalaya also look out for the candidates having cleared CTET/STET after their B.Ed degree.
To get a job in a primary section in a government school, the aspirants need to qualify CTET test. They would be able to teach the students studying between class one to class five. For the teachers interested in teaching the students of classes five to eight, they need to qualify for CTET for the upper primary level. Trained postgraduate teachers are qualified teachers taking up their teaching jobs in the subjects in which they have already done their postgraduation ie Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, English, Sanskrit etc. Such teachers can teach the pupils studying in classes eleven and twelve. They don't belong to the categories of coverage of the CTET/ STET umbrella.
Government teachers after acquiring CTET/STET after their B.Ed degrees may aspire to the post of an Education Officer once they qualify for UPSC.
