Is it possible to study abroad with 100% scholarship?
Author: Vandana Post Date: 02 Apr 2023 Generally, a scholarship will have a maximum limit. For example, many scholarships that I have seen for Indian students to study abroad specify that only up to US$10,000 will be covered by the scholarship. Even scholarships offered by the Central Govt. of India or a State Govt. are unlikely to provide full funding, usually covering the tuition fee, Visa fee and travel expenses (economy class airfare to the other country) only. All other expenses will have to be borne by you.
I think in the case of an undergraduate program abroad, there is no 100% scholarship, at least as far as my limited knowledge goes. In the case of studying abroad for a postgraduate program, though, I know that it is quite possible to get 100% funding through a scholarship. This depends on some factors, though, especially your academic record, and genuine financial status. An academically brilliant student coming from a low-income family can get a 100% scholarship, especially with good reference letters from the head of the educational institution and faculty. Generally, a Letter of Recommendation (LOR) from two or three referees may be asked for. In such cases, too, you need to read the fine print. While the scholarship will cover what I mentioned earlier, and possibly even the campus accommodation fee, you will need to pay the charges for insurance cover, for example, and for extra expenses like attending an off-campus seminar related to your program, and so on.
I suggest you check out international scholarships if you are looking for 100% funding for higher studies abroad, such as the Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue a one-year Master's program in the UK. This scholarship is for students who are permanent residents of a Commonwealth country and cannot afford to study in the UK without this scholarship. There are also Commonwealth Scholarships for research programs, and even for pursuing a distance learning program, that is, the part-time study of a Master's program at a UK university while remaining at home (residence in a Commonwealth country).
Then there is the well-known Erasmus Mundus Scholarship that is offered by a consortium of higher educational institutions in Europe for research programs in the fields of law, health, economics, engineering, etc. You get to study and do research work in two universities in two different European countries, thereby getting a joint or double degree on successful completion of the course. The scholarship covers the tuition fee as well as provides a living allowance.
Author: Drupad Madhavan Post Date: 11 Apr 2023 I was always intrigued when kids in American high school-themed movies always threw around this string of words - full-ride scholarships. It always felt pretty superlative to think that, in a way, someone would pay for you for the whole university experience. Later did I come to know that it is a real thing, 100% scholarships - mostly known as full-ride scholarships are they give you a full free ride through the University. Even though it is real, it is pretty hard to acquire due to the fact that such an opportunity is only given to gifted students, the best of the best and even to bright students who come from unfortunate backgrounds. I'm honestly not that gifted or bright enough to apply for such a scholarship, however, I can suggest a few ways to get such scholarships-
Do research on the course you want to study and check for scholarships that are available for courses in that field. Get in contact with your student counsellor or an educational consultant and enquire about the possibilities of attaining such a scholarship.
Use the internet to find scholarships there are many websites that focus just on scholarships and try to apply for all of them.
Get in touch with the university that you are planning to apply to and enquire about such opportunities available there. Get in touch with alumni members and enquire with them about available opportunities that they know of.
These are some of the ways to get a full-ride scholarship. I advise that you keep working hard and keep applying to all available scholarships in your field. All the best!
Author: Samuel Unni Post Date: 11 Apr 2023 Well, my brother wanted to study overseas but was worried about the high cost of college. Throughout high school, he worked hard in his grades and extracurricular activities to maximise his chances of receiving a scholarship.
He also conducted a considerable study and applied to many universities that provided full scholarships to international students. After a few months of waiting, he was finally informed that he had been accepted into one of the institutions and had been offered a full scholarship!
The scholarship paid for all of his tuition and living expenses, as well as a monthly stipend for personal expenses. That was an incredible opportunity for him to follow his dream of studying abroad without financial constraints.
Yet, it is vital to highlight that obtaining a full scholarship is a difficult endeavour that necessitates a great deal of hard work, devotion, and research. Maintaining a high GPA, participating in extracurricular activities, and having a strong application are all necessary. This aim is absolutely attainable with perseverance and effort!
