Author: Phagu Mahato Post Date: 20 Apr 2023 Yes, MBBS degree obtained from Ukrainian medical universities is recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and is considered valid in India. However, before practicing medicine in India, Indian students who obtained their MBBS degree from Ukraine must pass the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
The FMGE is a screening test that assesses the knowledge and skills of Indian students who have obtained their medical degrees from foreign universities, including Ukraine. The test consists of 300 multiple-choice questions and assesses students' understanding of basic medical concepts and clinical skills.
If an Indian student who obtained their MBBS degree from Ukraine passes the FMGE, they can register with the Medical Council of India and practice medicine in India. However, it is important to note that the competition for medical jobs in India is high, and students must also fulfill other requirements, such as completing a compulsory one-year internship in India, before they can practice medicine in the country.
