Is there any option other than UGC NET for M.A. English who got score between 50% and 55% of marks?
Author: DR.N.V. Srinivasa Rao Post Date: 31 Jul 2023 After completing your MA in English if you want to go for a PhD with a fellowship, you have to clear UGC NET. If you want to become a lecturer also you have to clear NET. There are chances to do Ph.D. without NET. At the same time, you can go for a lecturer post in some private colleges and also as a teaching assistant or tutor, etc. But the remuneration they offer will be very less and may not be comparable to the remuneration you get after clearing UGC NET.
Universities will conduct their entrance test to admit students for PhD and they will allow people to work for PhD. There is no rule that a Ph.D. can be done only after clearing UGC NET, provided you fulfil all the eligibility criteria laid down by that particular educational institute.
A person who qualified in MA English can go for B.Ed, and after completing B.Ed he can pursue a teaching career.
A person with an MA English qualification will have many other opportunities. He can go for civil services, State government group services, Bank officer posts and clerk posts, similar jobs in Private companies, etc. There are many jobs pertaining to translation. Content writing is another way for earning. Editor posts in various publishing houses are also available for MA English people.
