I think that the demand of Physical Education Teachers (PETs) teachers in India is depending on factors such as the region, the school's focus on sports and physical education, and the availability of qualified professionals. Generally, there is a consistent demand for competent PET teachers in both public and private schools. The emphasis on physical education and sports programs has been increasing in recent years, with schools recognizing the importance of holistic development through physical activities.

The minimum qualifications to become a Physical Education Teachers (PETs) as mentioned below:

  1. Educational Qualification:
  2. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or a related field. Some institutions may also consider candidates with a Bachelor's degree in any discipline along with a Diploma in Physical Education (D.P.Ed.).

  3. Physical Fitness:
  4. PETs need to demonstrate proficiency in various physical activities and sports. They should maintain a good level of physical fitness and possess practical skills in coaching and conducting sports events.

  5. Teacher Training:
  6. In addition to the educational qualifications, candidates are often required to complete a recognized teacher training program such as a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or a Diploma in Education (D.Ed.). These programs equip candidates with pedagogical knowledge and teaching methodologies.

It is worth noting that specific requirements can differ between states and educational boards in India. It is advisable to consult the respective state's educational authorities or conduct further research to ensure you have the most accurate and up-to-date information.

As the educational institutions in the public sector, as well as the private sector, are increasing, the demand for PET teachers will also increase. At the same time, more students are also showing interest in PET teachers. So there will be competition always and candidates who farewell in the written test and interviews get a selection in Public sector educational institutions. So all depends on the performance of the individual. In public sector educational institutions the scales are fixed and the payment will be based on the scales fixed in that particular state. The private sector institutions offer different salaries to PETs and that will vary from institution to institution.
The minimum qualifications for this post are as follows.

1. A graduate in any discipline is required. Some schools may consider 12th-passed candidates for junior positions.
2. Physical Education training qualification is also required in addition to the above qualifications.
a) Candidates who completed their Diploma in Physical Education are eligible for teacher posts in Primary and Upper Primary schools.
b) Candidates who completed their B.P.Ed. (Bachelor's degree in Physical Education) will be recruited in high schools and colleges. To go for B.P.Ed the candidate should complete a bachelor's degree in any subject.
C) Candidates with M.P. Ed qualification can get employment in universities and higher posts in government establishments like Sports Authority of India etc.

Various institutions will be releasing recruitment notifications and to be applied as prescribed in the notification. A written test and then interview for the qualified candidates in the written test will be conducted. Some states will have two written tests and no interviews.
