It is also meant for students who are enrolled in aided or governmental schools. The students should pass the test to become eligible for the scholarship program.
Students who require support benefit from the NMMS program to pursue secondary education, as they receive Rs. 12,000 annually as a reward. The eligibility criteria for the scholarship is- The annual income of the parents should not be over Rs. 3,50,000/- p.a. The student should be in Grade 8 and studying at a well-known government-aided school or local body to appear for the exam. Students in the general category should secure a minimum of 55% in 7th grade, and students in the reserved category should secure a minimum of 50% in 7th grade.
Application process- Pupils of Standard 8 should apply for the NMMS exam in 2024, with the help of the school administration staff (for this year, the closing date is over).
Test format- The exam for the National Means Merit Scholarship Kerala is conducted in two different parts, namely the mental ability test and the scholastic ability test. In each section, students should attempt 90 questions, and the duration of each paper is 1 ½ hours. The MAT test is a language test to assess proficiency in English and Hindi. For the SAT test, the questions pertain to core subjects such as science, math, and social studies. It is held in offline mode, and the students should solve MCQ questions. The questions are appearing on the syllabus for grades 7 and 8. Each question carries one mark.

Exam Pattern Test Syllabus- 1. Mental Ability Test - Questions are based on verbal and non-verbal meta-cognitive abilities. The questions are in the form of classification, analogy, hidden figures, pattern perception, etc.
2. Scholastic Ability Test - The questions are based on core topics such as social studies, science, and mathematics that are studied in grades 7 and 8.

Srinivasa Rao Post Date: 27 Nov 2023 Kerala National Means-Cum- Merit Scholarship 2024 (Kerala NMMS) is a national scholarship sanctioned to poor students who require financial support. Every year, the Kerala National Means Cum Merit Scholarship program sanctions scholarship to 8th-class students. Students studying in Government schools and aided schools under the jurisdiction of the Government of Kerala can apply for this scholarship.
An examination will be conducted by the government for the students who apply for this post. This scholarship will be awarded to students whose family income is less than Rs.3,50,000/- per annum. Around 1,00,000 students will benefit from this scheme. Out of these one lakh students, 3473 students from Kerala will be given this scholarship. Once the scholarship is sanctioned, it will get renewed in the next year also for the students we maintain the required academic standard. A student should get promoted to the next class for renewal of the scholarship. But a minimum of 60% marks are required in class X to get the renewal for class XI.
An entrance test will be conducted by the state governments in their state to select the students for financial aid under this scheme. Scholarships will be awarded to the students based on their performance in this test. The students can visit NMMSE Kerala website to get all the details
